What is Thyroid Support designed to support?

Thyroid Support is Marek's nutrient-forward thyroid formula — a comprehensive capsule built around the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and botanicals that thyroid physiology depends on every day.‡ It supports healthy thyroid hormone production, antioxidant protection, and thyroid-related metabolic function.‡

The formula deliberately leans on nutrient cofactors rather than adaptogens — no ashwagandha. Most of what determines healthy thyroid function isn't a herb. It's whether the gland has the iodine, selenium, zinc, tyrosine, and supporting micronutrients it needs to do its job.‡

One capsule daily with breakfast.

Is Thyroid Support a replacement for thyroid medication?

No. Thyroid Support is a dietary supplement that provides nutrient cofactors involved in healthy thyroid physiology. It is not a hormone product, it does not contain T4 or T3, and it is not a replacement for prescribed thyroid medication.‡

If you currently take levothyroxine (Synthroid, Levoxyl), liothyronine (Cytomel), desiccated thyroid (Armour, Nature-Throid, NP Thyroid), or any other prescribed thyroid medication, do not stop your medication. Thyroid Support may be appropriate as an adjunct alongside medication for some people, but that's a decision to make with your healthcare provider.

For people without diagnosed thyroid disease, Thyroid Support is designed for daily foundational support.

How do iodine and selenium support thyroid function?

Iodine and selenium are the two most important nutrient cofactors for thyroid physiology — the rest of the formula supports them.‡

Iodine is the structural backbone of thyroid hormones. T4 (thyroxine) contains four iodine atoms; T3 (triiodothyronine) contains three. Without adequate iodine intake, the thyroid can't manufacture hormones at all. Thyroid Support provides 225 mcg of iodine per capsule (as potassium iodide) — above the RDA of 150 mcg and well below the tolerable upper limit of 1,100 mcg. The dose is positioned for daily foundational support, not high-dose iodine therapy.‡

Selenium is essential for two thyroid-related enzyme families. The deiodinases (DIO1, DIO2, DIO3) convert T4 into the more biologically active T3, and glutathione peroxidase protects the thyroid from oxidative stress generated during hormone synthesis. (The thyroid produces hydrogen peroxide as a normal part of iodination, which is why antioxidant defense matters in that tissue specifically.) Thyroid Support provides 100 mcg of selenium per capsule, as L-selenomethionine — the well-absorbed organic form.‡

The other trace minerals round out the cofactor set: zinc (15 mg as bisglycinate) supports several enzymatic steps in thyroid hormone metabolism; copper (0.5 mg as bisglycinate) balances zinc and supports ceruloplasmin-dependent pathways relevant to thyroid hormone metabolism; vitamin A (600 mcg RAE) is required for the thyroid hormone receptor complex to function at the level of gene expression; and chromium (50 mcg) supports broader metabolic function downstream of thyroid signaling.‡

When and how should I take Thyroid Support?

One capsule daily with breakfast, or with early day meal.‡

If you take prescribed thyroid medication, timing matters: most thyroid medications absorb best on an empty stomach. Iodine in particular can interact with thyroid hormone absorption and metabolism. The standard guidance is to take levothyroxine or other thyroid medications first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, then take Thyroid Support with breakfast 30–60 minutes later — but this varies by individual and by prescription, so confirm timing with your prescribing provider.

For people without thyroid medication, taking Thyroid Support with breakfast supports both absorption (vitamin A is fat-soluble) and tolerance (the iodine and minerals are gentler with food).

Who should consult a healthcare provider before taking Thyroid Support?

Talk to your healthcare provider before starting Thyroid Support if you:

  • Have any diagnosed thyroid condition — Hashimoto's thyroiditis, Graves' disease, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, or a history of thyroid cancer.
  • Take prescribed thyroid medication — levothyroxine, Synthroid, Levoxyl, Cytomel, Armour, Nature-Throid, NP Thyroid, or any other thyroid hormone product.
  • Have known iodine sensitivity or have been advised to limit iodine intake.
  • Take medications that affect thyroid function or interact with thyroid-related minerals, including lithium, amiodarone, certain antipsychotics, and some seizure medications.
  • Have an autoimmune disease — even outside the thyroid axis, autoimmunity can affect how supplements interact with the immune system.
  • Are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive. Thyroid function and iodine needs change in pregnancy, and the right intake is best determined with your prenatal provider.
  • Are under 18.

Thyroid Support is a dietary supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, including any thyroid condition. If you're managing a condition or under medical supervision, work with your provider to determine whether Thyroid Support fits your protocol.
