What is Liver Support designed to support?

Liver Support is Marek's four-ingredient liver formula built around a full-strength serving of TUDCA, with CDP-choline, glycine, and myo-inositol completing the stack. It supports liver cell health, bile acid metabolism, glutathione production, hepatic fat metabolism, and cell membrane integrity.‡

The formula is intentionally focused — four ingredients chosen for distinct, complementary roles in liver physiology‡, rather than a long ingredient list of vague "detox" botanicals.

What is TUDCA, and why is it the centerpiece of Liver Support?

TUDCA — tauroursodeoxycholic acid — is a bile acid. Specifically, it's the taurine-conjugated form of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), one of the bile acids naturally produced by the liver in small amounts. Bile acids aren't just emulsifiers for dietary fat; they're signaling molecules that participate in liver and cellular biology in surprisingly broad ways.‡

TUDCA's most distinctive activity in the research literature is its role as a chemical chaperone. When proteins are being folded inside cells, things can go wrong — misfolded proteins accumulate in the endoplasmic reticulum and trigger a stress response. TUDCA helps proteins fold correctly and reduces ER stress.‡

In Liver Support, TUDCA serves the bile acid side of the formula directly — supporting normal bile flow and bile acid metabolism — while its cellular chaperone activity supports liver cell health at a more general level.‡ Liver Support uses 500 mg of TUDCA per serving, which is the dose used in much of the relevant supplementation research, and substantially higher than the token amounts found in many multi-ingredient liver formulas.‡

How do glycine and myo-inositol round out the formula?

Two supporting ingredients that broaden the formula beyond bile acid and phospholipid pathways.

Glycine is one of three amino acids required for glutathione synthesis (along with cysteine and glutamic acid). Glutathione is the body's primary endogenous antioxidant and is concentrated heavily in the liver, where it plays a central role in phase II biotransformation and broader antioxidant defense. Research has identified glycine as rate-limiting for glutathione synthesis in some populations, particularly older adults. Glycine is also one of the two amino acids the body uses to conjugate bile acids (taurine is the other), so adequate glycine availability supports the bile acid metabolism pathway from a different angle.‡ Liver Support provides 225 mg of L-glycine per serving.

Myo-inositol is a cellular signaling molecule involved in insulin signaling, lipid metabolism, and broader metabolic regulation. Research has explored its role in supporting metabolic signaling pathways relevant to liver lipid handling. Liver Support provides 150 mg of myo-inositol per serving — a foundational dose intended to complement the rest of the formula.‡

When and how should I take Liver Support?

Take two capsules daily with food.

Marek places Liver Support at lunch in the daily protocol — partly because the morning capsule meal is already busy (Daily D3/K2, Methylate, Thyroid Support, P5P+, and the first dose of Berberine⁵).

Taking it with food matters for a few reasons:

  • TUDCA is a bile acid. Bile acid metabolism is meal-stimulated, so dosing alongside a meal aligns the supplement with the physiological state it's designed to support.
  • CDP-choline and the rest of the formula are generally better tolerated with food.

If lunch doesn't work for your routine, taking both capsules with breakfast or dinner is fine — consistency matters more than the specific meal. Just keep it with food.

Can I take Liver Support with NAC or other liver-related supplements?

Yes. Liver Support stacks cleanly with NAC and with most other liver-related supplements, with a few considerations.

NAC (N-acetylcysteine) provides cysteine, which is typically the rate-limiting amino acid for glutathione synthesis. Liver Support provides glycine, the second rate-limiting amino acid for the same pathway. Stacking the two means supplying both halves of the glutathione substrate equation — a combination explored in the research literature for its effects on glutathione status, particularly in populations where endogenous glutathione synthesis falls behind demand.‡

Other liver-adjacent supplements people sometimes ask about:

  • Milk thistle — different mechanism, doesn't conflict
  • Choline or phosphatidylcholine products — Liver Support already provides 300 mg of CDP-choline, ensure that total choline intake stays within the 3,500 mg/day upper limit.
  • Berberine — Marek Berberine⁵ shares the lunch slot with Liver Support and the two don't conflict.

If you take multiple liver-related supplements or are managing a liver condition, talk to your healthcare provider about your supplement protocol.

Who should consult a healthcare provider before taking Liver Support?

Consult your healthcare provider before starting Liver Support if you:

  • Have a diagnosed liver condition (any form of hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, Wilson's disease, hemochromatosis, or other hepatic conditions).
  • Have a gallbladder condition (gallstones, cholecystitis, biliary dyskinesia) or have had your gallbladder removed.
  • Have bile duct obstruction or a history of biliary issues.
  • Take bile acid sequestrants (cholestyramine, colestipol, colesevelam) — these medications can interfere with TUDCA absorption.
  • Take medications that are primarily metabolized by the liver, especially at high doses.
  • Have a known sensitivity to bile acid products.
  • Are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive.
  • Are scheduled for surgery in the near term.

Liver Support is a dietary supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, including any liver or biliary condition. If you're managing a condition or under medical supervision, work with your provider to determine whether Liver Support fits your protocol.
